I just wanted to update you on life. I miss you all so much already and I can't wait to hear what God is doing in each one of your lives. I am going to start off my post by saying YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL and created in His image. Rejoice in that!!!! One thing that I am learning is that we are nothing without him. Today, has been a good reminder of that I am so truly happy to know that each one of you are following after Christ...
a couple reasons why I wanted to share that with you:
Church was so good this morning, it talked about how we are called to model and imitate our Lord. The pastor tied his message (I Cor. 11:1) into the Prodigal Son. He started off talking about how we need to follow His command and be consistent in our walk!!! He talked all about Christ's character (faithfulness, goodness, self-control, joy, & patience) but PATIENCE was the one that stuck out to me. He challenged us to work on those aspects. Here are five spiritual goals for this summer...
1. Love Jesus with all you heart (matt. 22:37)
2. Have a passion to share Christ as a way of life (rom. 1:16)
3. Be able to read the Bible and apply it to daily living (josh. 1:18)
4. Surround yourselves with christians and pass the spiritual baton to others (II cor. 6:14)
5. Be involved in ministry and serve God (eph. 4:12-13)
At the end of the service he asked those who had someone in their life that was like a prodigal son to pray with him...my mom & dad & I all were sooooo moved by his message. My mom was crying and so was I. It was great to see God moving today.
--I wanted to share that with you!!! be encouraged and be so thankful that we have great friends and BIOLA. I love you girls.
Lastly, BE CONTAGIOUS. BE CAREFUL. and BE COMMITTED this summer.
Kerry...thanks for sharing. What a special moment for your family. And I love the story of the prodigal son. I actually read an incredible book that really helped me see the story in a whole new light. It is called The REturn of the Prodigal Son by Henri Nouwen. And remember that activity that we did, where we read a passage and put ourselves in as a character in the bible (I think that we did it with the Mary and Martha passage), that is an incredible passage to do...because you could be the prodigal son, the other son, the father, the workers, etc. Anyways, I encourage you to meditate on that passage:) Love you girl!
